Mission, vision and objectives

Mission

In IK4 our objective is the generation, uptake and transfer of technological andscientific knowledge which will contribute to improving the competitiveness of the business framework in a global setting.

To do this, we encourage innovation and excellence through specialization and the coordination and integration of the technological andscientific capacities of our members. And we collaborate with the other techno-scientific agents with the aim of using the resources devoted to research in an efficient manner, and to boost the training of highly qualified personnel and their integration into the economic and social area which we serve.

Likewise, we establish ourselves as an element of reference in the dialogue with institutions in all those aspects which relate to technological andscientific research, collaborating actively with these institutions in the definition of technological andscientific policies, and with the business framework in the transformation of all this into value for society.

Our Project is based on people , where excellence, team work and cooperation are considered to be key elements both for personal and professional development and for the success of the Alliance.

Vision

To be known and recognised by society and its principal agents. We have been key actors in ensuring that the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country has a coherently structured technological andscientific network and a competitive economic and social framework at a global level.

To be an international reference point for excellence in a set of research areas which has had a crucial impact on the transformation of businesses in this country. To do this, we collaborate habitually and closely with universities and other technological andscientific agents in the development of our mission.

We are a group of Technology Centres sharing a common project with the aim of providing competitive solutions for the business framework. To do this, we have established ourselves on the basis of Technology Units which align the technological andscientific capacities and the market orientation of their members.

To be recognised by the various Public Administrations as a vital instrument in the definition and application of their technological andscientific policies.
To be points of reference for the knowledge generated relating to technology itself.
To be recognised in the outsourced research service market for the capacity to generate value to the business sector.

To align technological andscientific development with the science and technology plans of the Basque Government, of the General State Administration and of the European institutions.

Objectives

• To promote and defend the common interests of the members.
• To seek technological excellence based on specialization and on cooperation.
• To represent members as the Alliance of technological andscientific cooperation.
• To boost the development, productivity and competitiveness of the Basque Autonomous Community.
• To develop "Action Plans" within the Technological Specialization Framework as marked by the current Science and Technology and Innovation Plans in the Basque Country Autonomous Community.
• To carry out joint R+D+i projects, especially those which are multidisciplinary in nature, mobilizing and pooling the human and material resources required.
• To establish coordination mechanisms between the members of the Alliance.
• To transfer and make known the results of its activities. Results orientation.
• To collaborate in the promotion of new business initiatives.
