We will now present the sectors at which IK4 specialization is aimed.

Sectors of Activity covered by the IK4 Alliance

  • Aerospace

    2.30% of IK4's research work focuses on the Aerospace field through the contributions of different Technological Units: Mecatronics, with 5% of its activity dedicated to this sector; Materials & Processes (5%) and Information and Communication Technologies (1%).

  • Agrifood

    1.70% of IK4's research work focuses on the Agrifood field through the contributions of different Technological Units: Biotechnology, with 30% of its activity dedicated to this sector, and Environment (5%).

  • Audiovisual

    The audiovisual sector is also a target for the implementation of part of IK4's research work. It hardly comprises 1.30% of its global activity, and is managed by the ICT Unit, which dedicates 5% of its activity to these issues.

  • Automotive

    The Automotive sector represents 2.50% of IK4's research work, distributed among different Scientific & Technological Units: Environment, which dedicates 5% of its activity to this sector, Industrial Management & Production (7%), Mecatronics (5%) and Micro- & Nanotechnologies (10%).

  • Capital Goods

    3.10% of IK4's research work focuses on the Capital Goods' field through the contributions of two different Technological Units: Industrial Management & Production, with 9% of its activity dedicated to this sector, and Mecatronics (15%).

  • Chemistry

    The Chemical sector represents 4.70% of IK4 Alliance's research work and involves three of its eight Scientific and Technological Units: Biotechnology, which dedicates 10% of its activities to this sector; Environment (5%), and Materials & Processes (15%).

  • Construction

    The Construction sector represents 1.60% of IK4 Alliance's research work, distributed among two main Scientific & Technological Units: Industrial Management & Production, which dedicates 9% of its activity to this sector, and Mecatronics (5%).

  • Education

    The Education sector is a target for the implementation of part of IK4's research work. It represents 0.80% of IK4 Alliance's global activity and is lead by the Information and Communication Technologies Unit, which dedicates 3% of its activity to this sector.

  • Electric domestic appliances

    The Electric Domestic Appliances' sector represents 7% of IK4 Alliance's research work and involves six of its eight Scientific and Technological Units: Energy, which dedicates 20% of its activities to this sector, Industrial Management & Production (4%), Mecatronics (5%), Micro- & Nanotechnologies (10%), Materials & Processes (5%) and ICTs (11%).

  • Energy

    The Energy sector represents 11.90% of IK4 Alliance's research work and involves seven of its eight Scientific and Technological Units: Energy, which dedicates 80% of its activities to this sector, Environment (7.5%), Industrial Management & Production (6%), Mecatronics (15%), Micro- & Nanotechnologies (10%), Materials & Processes (10%) and ICTs (4%).

  • Environment

    6.40% of IK4's research work focuses on the Environmental field through the contributions of different Technological Units: Biotechnology, with 10% of its activity dedicated to this sector; Environment (45%); Industrial Management & Production (1%); Micro- & Nanotechnologies (15%) and Materials & Processes (5%).

  • Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)

    13.40% of IK4's research work focuses on the ICTs field through the contributions of different Technological Units: Environment, with 7.5% of its activity dedicated to this sector; Industrial Management & Production (19%); Mecatronics (5%); Micro- & Nanotechnologies (20%); Materials & Processes (10%) and Information and Communication Technologies (25%).

  • Knowledge

    The Knowledge Management sector represents 1.50% of IK4 Alliance's global activity and is lead by the Industrial Management & Production Scientific & Technological Unit, which dedicates 16% of its activity to this sector.

  • Manufacturing

    The Manufacturing sector represents 8.40% of IK4 Alliance's research work and involves four of its eight Scientific and Technological Units: Industrial Management & Production, which dedicates 10% of its activities to this sector, Mecatronics (10%), Materials & Processes (13%) and ICTs (1%).

  • Maritime / Shipbuilding

    The Maritime & Shipbuilding sector represents 2.60% of IK4 Alliance's global activity and is lead by the Materials & Processes Unit, which dedicates 10% of its activity to this sector.

  • Medicine / Health

    The Medicine & Health sector represents 8.5% of IK4's research work, distributed among different Scientific & Technological Units: Biotechnology, which dedicates 50% of its activity to this sector, Mecatronics (5%), Micro- & Nanotechnologies (35%), Materials & Processes (5%) and ICTs (7%).

  • Multisectorial

    7% of IK4's research work focuses on other fields of application through the contributions of different Technological Units: Industrial Management & Production, with 19% of its activity dedicated to this sector; Materials & Processes (12%) and Information and Communication Technologies (18%).

  • Public administration

    The Public Administration is also a target for the implementation of part of IK4's research work. It represents 1.90% of IK4 Alliance's global activity and is lead by the Environment Unit, which dedicates 25% of its activity to this sector.

  • Scientific Equipment

    The Scientific Equipment sector is a target for the implementation of part of IK4's research work. It represents 0.80% of IK4 Alliance's global activity and is lead by the Mecatronics Unit, which dedicates 5% of its activity to this sector.

  • Transport

    11.90% of IK4's research work focuses on the Transport field through the contributions of different Technological Units: Mecatronics, with 25% of its activity dedicated to this sector; Materials & Processes (10%) and Information and Communication Technologies (22%).

  • Turism

    The Tourism sector is a target for the implementation of part of IK4's research work. It represents 0.80% of IK4 Alliance's global activity and is lead by the Information and Communication Technologies Unit, which dedicates 3% of its activity to this sector.
