Sign out of Skype

Among the many questions that refer to the work of the Skype program, a significant part of users are concerned about the question of how to close this program, or exit the account. After all, closing the Skype window in the usual way, that is, by clicking on the cross in the upper right corner of it, only minimizes the application to the taskbar, but it still works. Let's find out how to deactivate Skype on your computer and sign out of your account.

Close the program

So, as we said before, clicking on the cross in the upper right corner of the window, like clicking on the "Close" item in the "Skype" section of the program menu, will only minimize the application. to the taskbar.

To completely close Skype, click on its icon in the taskbar. In the menu that appears, stop at "Exit Skype".

After that, after a short time, a dialog box will appear asking if the user really wants to exit Skype. Click on the "Exit" button and you will be logged out.

Similarly, you can exit Skype by clicking on its icon in the system tray.

Log out of your account

However, the logout method described above will only work if you are the only user who has access to your computer, and you are sure that no one else will open Skype in your absence, as the login to your account will then be will produce automatically. To avoid this situation, you must log out of your account.

To do this, go to the section of the program's menu, which is called "Skype." In the list that appears, select "Sign out of account".

You can also click on the Skype icon on the taskbar and select "Sign out."

With either of the two options selected, your account session will be closed and Skype itself will restart. Afterwards, you can close the program using one of the methods described above, but this time without the risk of someone breaking into your account.

Skype blocking

The above options have been described to close Skype in the usual way. However, how can I close the program if it hangs and does not respond in the usual way? In this case, the Task Manager can help. You can activate it by clicking on the task bar and, in the menu that appears, selecting "Run the task manager". You can also press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

In the Task Manager that opens, in the "Applications" tab, look for the entry for the Skype program. Click on it, and in the list that appears, select the "Undo task" position. Alternatively, click the button with the same name at the bottom of the Task Manager window.

If the program still does not close, we invoke the contextual menu again, but this time we select the option "Go to process".

A list of all the processes running on the computer opens before us. It won't take long for the Skype process to be found, as it will be highlighted with a blue line. Again, call the context menu and select the position «Delete task». Or click the button with the same name in the lower right corner of the window.

A dialog box will then open warning you of the possible consequences of forcing the application to terminate. But, since the program really crashes and we have nothing to do, we click on the "End process" button.

As you can see, there are several ways to deactivate the Skype program. In general, all these methods of disconnection can be divided into three main groups: without closing the session; with account closure; or by forced closure. The method you choose depends on the performance of the program and the level of unauthorized access to your computer.
