When running a video with the HEVC codec in the Windows 10 built-in player, you will be prompted to install paid extensions for this format. If you go to the Windows Store app store and search for HEVC, the codec is found as "HEVC Video Extensions", but Microsoft suggests that you buy it, which means that it is not available for free:
