How to find out the MAC address in Windows 11
If you need to see the MAC address of your network card, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth adapter in Windows 11 for any purpose, like setting connection restrictions to your router, there are some easy ways to do it.
This step-by-step tutorial details how to find out the MAC address for Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth in Windows 11 using Preferences, Command Prompt and PowerShell, System Information window, and other methods.

View MAC address in Windows 11 settings
Windows 11 Preferences allows you to quickly find out the MAC address of your network card (Ethernet adapter) or Wi-Fi adapter. Simply follow the steps below:
- Open “Settings” – “Network and Internet”.
- If you need to determine the MAC address of your network card, select Ethernet and at the bottom of the window you will see “Physical Address (MAC)” – this is what you were looking for. You can copy all this data to the clipboard using the corresponding button on the right.
- If you need the MAC address of the Wi-Fi adapter, please click “Wi-Fi” and then open “Hardware Properties”.
- At the bottom of the list of hardware properties will be the item containing the MAC address: "Physical Address (MAC)".
Note the following two nuances that may be important:
- If the “Random hardware addresses” option is activated in the Settings – Network and Internet – Wi-Fi window, the MAC address of the Wi-Fi adapter will change automatically when connecting to APs
- A "-" is used as a separator between the digits of the MAC address in the Settings, but you may have to enter a colon as a separator somewhere, such as in the router configuration.
How to find out the MAC address in the command line, Windows Terminal and PowerShell
To view the MAC address on the command line, simply follow these steps:
- Start a command line (Windows Terminal and PowerShell also work).
- Enter the command
getmac / v / fo list
and press Enter. This command will display the MAC addresses of the physical Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth adapters.
- The following command can only be used in PowerShell (or in the Windows Terminal with the PowerShell console open), it will display the MAC addresses of not only physical devices but also virtual network adapters:
Get-WmiObject win32_networkadapterconfiguration | select description, macaddress
- Another variant of the command for the command line, which also displays additional information about the connection: ipconfig / all – you will see the information you need under “Physical Address”.
Information about the MAC addresses of network adapters in the system information window
Windows 11, like previous versions of the system, has a “System Information” utility that also contains information about the MAC addresses of physical and virtual Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth devices:
- Right-click the Start button, select Run, type msinfo32 and press Enter.
- Open “Components” – “Network” – “Adapter”.
- The list on the right will display a complete list of network adapters, including the MAC addresses in the respective item.
In the list of connections and adapter properties
Another option is to use the Windows 11 connection list, the steps would be as follows
- Right-click the Start button, select Run, type ncpa.cpl. and press Enter.
- A list of connections will open, right-click on the desired connection and select "Properties".
- The connection properties window opens, in the upper part of which you will see the “Connection via” field. Holding the mouse pointer over this field will display the MAC address of the device.
- If you right click on the active connection in the connection list, select “Status” and then “Details” in the next window, you will see the current MAC address (under “Physical Address”) in the details window .
Most computer hardware viewing programs also allow you to view the MAC address of existing network adapters in Windows 11, but for this task I find using it redundant.
